Somatic Symptom Disorder
Somatic Symptom Disorder involves one or more physical symptoms that are accompanied by excessive thoughts, feelings, or behaviors related to the symptoms, causing significant distress and impairment. The physical symptoms may or may not be medically explained. Individuals spend excessive time and energy on health concerns and may be disproportionately worried about the seriousness of their symptoms. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is the primary treatment.
